After the Ottoman Empire emerged defeated from the Balkan War, it started modernization movements within the Army. In the meanwhile, the industrialization race in European countries led to the start of World War One, triggered with the assassination of the Crown Prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Following the beginning of the war, the Ottoman Empire declared mobilization and it reorganized the foundation organization of the Army in accordance with the mobilization. Criteria necessary for military service were determined according to the Obligatory Military Service Temporary Law. In addition to this, thirteen Army Corps Recruiting Zones were established. As a result of the reorganizations, the recruited men were taken from the induction centers to the training centers named depots and after receiving military training there, through the agency of destination inspectors, they were sent to the fronts, the Gallipoli Front being primarily, via designated routes
Balkan Harbi’nden yenik ayrılan Osmanlı Devleti, Almanya’nın yardımlarıyla Ordu içerisinde yenileşme hareketlerini gerçekleştirirken, Avrupa ülkelerindeki silahlanma yarışı, Avusturya-Macaristan veliahdının öldürülmesiyle I. Dünya Savaşı’nın patlak vermesine neden oldu. I. Dünya Savaşı’nın çıkmasıyla beraber Osmanlı Devleti, seferberliğini ilan etti ve seferberliğe uygun olarak Ordunun kuruluş teşkilâtlanmasını yeniden düzenledi. Çıkarılan Mükellefiyet-i Askeriye Kanun-ı Muvakkati ile askerlik hizmetinin yerine getirilmesinde uygulanacak kriterler belirlendi. Bunun yanı sıra 13 Kolordu Asker Alma Bölgesi oluşturuldu. Yapılan düzenlemeler neticesinde siah altına alınan yükümlüler, askerlik şubelerinden, depo denilen eğitim merkezlerine gönderilip, buralarda askeri eğitimlerini aldıktan sonra, menzil müfettişlikleri vasıtasıyla, Çanakkale Cephesi’ne belirlenen güzergâhlar üzerinden sevk edildi.
