The aim of this study is to investigate the informal relationships that are effective in making decisions
about career and scientific work of academicians who work in our universities.
For
the realization
of this study, semi-structured interview form was used, interviews were done with totally 17 academicians who was chosen from 6 different faculties and these interviews were taken voice recording. For the relevant sample, academicians working areas, hierarchical diversity and gender diversity were considered. The obtained raw data was
investigated
with content analysis.
As a result
of analysis, the most
important factor to determine of academicians working areas were found to be advisor. At the same time, family and social environment of academicians have also concluded that plays a role in decisions related to their academic careers.
