Human Rights in the Artificial Intelligence Era: Opportunities and Pitfalls
Öz
Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly more integrated in our daily lives and influencing how decisions are made, especially in the fields of law, politics, and public services. AI has the potential to serve as a beneficial instrument to protect human rights. However, it also carries risks such as violating privacy, causing unfair treatment, and deepening already existing inequalities within societies. Some governments employ AI systems for surveillance purposes, while others try to balance security with personal freedoms. This article examines how AI affects human rights by focusing on the rights to privacy and equality, and the freedom of expression. It discusses both the opportunities and pitfalls of AI on human rights and proposes certain ways to ensure AI follows ethical rules and respects human rights. By understanding these issues, policymakers can create necessary laws to ensure that AI benefits everyone while reducing harm.
