Göçmen İşgücünün Yerli İşsizlik Üzerindeki Etkisi: OECD Ülkelerine İlişkin Bulgular

Öz

Bu çalışma, 2000’den 2024’e kadar 26 OECD ülkesinde göçmen işgücünün yerli işsizlik üzerindeki etkisini; değişen varyans ve yatay kesit bağımlılığını dikkate alan Driscoll–Kraay standart hataları ile desteklenmiş bir sabit etkiler modeli kullanarak analiz etmektedir. Ampirik sonuçlar, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı pozitif bir ilişkiyi ortaya koymaktadır. Göçmen işgücü oranındaki %1’lik artış, yerli işsizlik oranında yaklaşık %0,15 bir artışa yol açmaktadır. Buna karşılık, ekonomik büyüme işsizlik oranlarını önemli ölçüde azaltmaktadır. Bu bulgular, kısa ve orta vadede sınırlı rekabet baskılarına işaret ederken makroekonomik istikrarın hayati rolünü vurgulayan neoklasik işgücü piyasası teorileri ile örtüşmektedir.

The Impact of the Migrant Workforce on Native Unemployment: Evidence from OECD Countries

Öz

This study examines the impact of the immigrant labor force on native unemployment across 26 OECD countries from 2000 to 2024 utilizing a fixed-effects model with Driscoll–Kraay standard errors to account for heteroskedasticity and cross-sectional dependence. The empirical results reveal a statistically significant positive relationship, a 1% increase in the migrant labor force ratio is associated with a 0.15% rise in native unemployment. Conversely, economic growth significantly reduces unemployment rates. These findings align with neoclassical labor market theories, suggesting modest competitive pressures in the short-to-medium term while highlighting the crucial role of macroeconomic stability.
