ÇALIŞMA YAŞAMINDA AKILLI TELEFON BAĞIMLILIĞI: BİBLİYOMETRİK BİR HARİTALAMA ÇALIŞMASI

Öz

Teknoloji kullanımı, günlük yaşantımızda giderek daha da vazgeçilmez hale gelmektedir. Teknolojinin en yaygın kullanımlarından biri ise, herkesin yanında olan akıllı telefonlardır. Akıllı telefon kullanımının hayatımızdaki rolü arttıkça, onun kötüye kullanımından kaynaklanan bağımlılıklar da yaygınlaşmaktadır. Bu yüzden akıllı telefon bağımlılığı, günümüzün en yaygın teknoloji bağımlılıklarından biri olmuştur. Değişen yaşam koşulları insanları akıllı telefonlarını sürekli olarak kullanmaya eğilimli hale getirmiştir. Bu durum, bireylerin günlük yaşamını, ilişkilerini, sağlıklarını ve özellikle de çalışma ortamlarını olumsuz etkilemektedir. Çalışanlarda akıllı telefon bağımlılığı, çalışanların kontrolsüz ve aşırı biçimde kullanmaları sonucu iş performansı, dikkat düzeyi ve sosyal ilişkiler üzerinde olumsuz etkiler oluşturan önemli bir davranışsal sorun olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Dijital teknolojilerin çalışma yaşamında yoğun olarak kullanılması, çalışanların sürekli çevrim içi kalma isteğinde artışı beraberinde getirerek akıllı telefon kullanımının bağımlılık boyutuna ulaşmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Literatürde yoğun ve kontrolsüz akıllı telefon kullanımının çalışanların dikkat, iş süreçleri ve performanslarıyla ilişkili olarak ele alındığı görülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, çalışanlar ve çalışma yaşamı çerçevesinde akıllı telefon bağımlılığını ele alan bilimsel yayınları bibliyometrik analiz yöntemiyle incelemektir. Böylece yapılan çalışma ile, bu konuda yapılan araştırmaların zaman içindeki gelişimi, anahtar kavramları ve araştırma eğilimleri aydınlatılmıştır. Web of Science Core Collection veri tabanından elde edilen 2002–2025 dönemine ait 50 dokümanın 45 farklı kaynakta yayımlandığı belirlenmiştir. Akıllı telefon bağımlılığı konusunda yayınlarda kullanılan anahtar kelimelere göre oluşturulmuş kelime bulutunda en çok kullanılan kelimelerin, “mobil kullanım”, “bağımlılık”, “kişilik”, “bilgi”, “davranış”, “akıllı telefon kullanımı”, “teknoloji” ve “benimseme” olduğu görülmüştür. En çok atıf alan ülkeler ise İspanya, ABD ve Birleşik Krallık olarak belirlenmiştir. İncelenen literatürde, akıllı telefon kullanımının görev performansı, dikkat dağınıklığı, zaman yönetimi ve ekip içi iletişim gibi çalışma yaşamına ilişkin değişkenlerle birlikte ele alındığı görülmektedir. Ayrıca sürekli telefon kontrol etme davranışının dikkat dağınıklığı, zaman yönetimi sorunları ve ekip içi iletişim gibi çalışma yaşamına ilişkin sonuçlarla birlikte ele alındığı görülmektedir.

SMARTPHONE ADDICTION IN WORKING LIFE: A BIBLIOMETRIC MAPPING STUDY

Öz

Technology use is becoming increasingly indispensable in daily life. One of the most widespread forms of technology use is the smartphone, which has become an integral part of everyday life. As the role of smartphones in people’s lives has increased, addictions arising from their problematic use have also become more prevalent. Therefore, smartphone addiction has emerged as one of the most widespread forms of technology addiction today. Changing living conditions have increasingly encouraged individuals to use their smartphones continuously. This situation negatively affects individuals’ daily lives, relationships, health, and particularly their working environments. Smartphone addiction among employees is considered an important behavioral problem resulting from uncontrolled and excessive smartphone use, with adverse implications for work performance, attention levels, and social relationships. The intensive use of digital technologies in working life has increased employees’ tendency to remain constantly online, thereby creating conditions in which smartphone use may reach addictive levels. The literature indicates that intensive and uncontrolled smartphone use has been examined in relation to employees’ attention, work processes, and performance. The aim of this study is to examine scientific publications addressing smartphone addiction among employees and within the context of working life through bibliometric analysis. Accordingly, the study sheds light on the development of research on this topic over time, its key concepts, and major research trends. A total of 50 documents published in 45 different sources between 2002 and 2025 were identified from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The word cloud generated based on the keywords used in publications on smartphone addiction showed that the most frequently used terms were “mobile usage,” “addiction,” “personality,” “information,” “behavior,” “smartphone usage,” “technology,” and “adoption”. Spain, the United States, and the United Kingdom were identified as the countries receiving the highest number of citations. The reviewed literature indicates that smartphone use has been examined together with working-life variables such as task performance, distraction, time management, and team communication. In addition, continuous phone-checking behavior has been addressed in relation to working-life outcomes such as distraction, time-management problems, and team communication.
