COVID-19 pandemi döneminde gıda alışveriş davranışı ile beslenme alışkanlıklarındaki değişimin değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Tüm dünyayı etkileyen COVID-19 salgını; getirilen kısıtlamalarla birlikte toplumun beslenme alışkanlıklarında ve davranışlarında değişikliğe neden olmuştur. Bu nedenle bu çalışmanın amacı; bireylerin besin tercihleri ve tüketimlerini büyük oranda etkileyen satın alma davranışı ve beslenme alışkanlıklarındaki değişimin COVID-19 pandemi sürecinde değerlendirilmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 18-64 yaş arasında internet kullanabilen yetişkin bireyler katılmıştır. Çevrim içi ortamda anket yöntemi kullanılarak bireylerin sosyo-demografik özellikleri, bireylerin vücut ağırlığı ve boy uzunlukları sorulmuştur. Ayrıca bireylerin bu dönemde beslenme alışkanlıklarında değişiklik olup olmadığı kişisel beyana dayalı olarak sorulmuştur. Bireylerin bu süreçteki gıda alışveriş davranışları, Türkiye’de gıda ürünlerinin en fazla satın almayı tercih ettikleri düşünülen yerler sorularak değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan 1626 bireyin %69,6’sı kadın ve %30,4’ü erkek bireylerden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcıların yaşları ortalaması 30,0±11,00 yıl ve beden kütle indeksleri ortalama değeri ise 24.4±4.67 kg/m2’dir. COVID-19 sürecinde beslenme alışkanlığında değişiklik olduğunu belirten bireylerin (%50,1) %55,9’u daha sağlıklı beslendiğini bildirmiştir. Bireylerin gıda alışverişini en fazla süpermarketlerden aldığı ve katılımcıların yarısından fazlasının yerel pazarlardan alışveriş yaptığı bulunmuştur. Organik pazar ve çiftlikten ise alışveriş yapmayı tercih etmedikleri bulunmuştur. Beslenme alışkanlığında değişiklik olması durumuna göre alışveriş yaptıkları yerler arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Sonuç: COVID-19 pandemi döneminde, bireylerin gıda alışveriş davranışlarının, beslenme alışkanlıklarındaki değişimlerden etkilenmediği bulunmuştur. Beslenmeyi etkileyen satın alma davranışının pandemi sonrasında kalıcı değişikliğe neden olup olmadığının araştırılması için daha fazla çalışmaya ihtiyaç vardır.

Evaluation of changes in food shopping behavior and eating habits during the COVID-19

Öz

Aim: COVID-19, which affects the whole world, has caused a change in the eating habits and behaviors of the society with the restrictions imposed. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the changes in purchasing behavior and eating habits that affect the food preferences and consumption of individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: Adult individuals between the ages of 18-64 who can use the internet participated in the study. Socio-demographic characteristics of individuals, body weight and height of individuals were asked by using the online questionnaires. In addition, individuals were asked whether there was a change in their eating habits during this period, based on their personal statement. Food shopping behaviors in this process were evaluated by asking about the places in Turkey where they are thought to prefer to purchase food products the most. Results: Of 1626 individuals participating in the study, 69.6% were female and 30.4% were male. The mean age of the participants was 30,0±11,00 years and the mean value of their body mass index was 24.4±4.67 kg/m2. 55.9% of individuals who stated that there was a change in their eating habits reported that they had a “healthier” diet. It was found that individuals mostly purchase food from supermarkets and more than half of the participants shop from local markets. They did not prefer to shop at the organic market and farm. There was no statistically significant difference between the places where they shop according to the change in eating habits. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic period, it has been found that the food shopping behaviors of individuals are not affected by the changes in their eating habits. More studies should be done to investigate whether purchasing behavior causes permanent change in post COVID-19.
