Primary leimyosarcoma of the ovary

Abstract

Ovarian leimyosarcoma is a rare aggressive tumor with a very bad prognosis. Contrary to their uterine counterparts, ovarian smooth muscle tumors are extremely rare comprising only 1% of ovarian tumors. Ovarian leimyosarcoma is generally seen in the postmenopausal period. Here we report a 59-year old patient diagnosed as as ovarian primary leimyosarcoma.
