Mental assessment of child and adolescents in health measure

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the psychiatric disorders and sociodemographical variables of the children and adolescents referred to child and adolescent psychiatry clinics by the juvenile courts along with an health measure.
Material and Methods: The psychiatric diagnoses and education precautions of children under health measure are recorded. Besides sociodemographic characteristics of the children and adolescents referred to Sakarya University Child and Adolescent Psychiatry clinic for health measures have been also examined retrospectively.
Results: Fifteen percent of the children fif not meet any diagnostic criteria, while 15% of the children were diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder, 17% of them were shown to be mental retardation 26.3% of them were attention deficit hyperactivity disorder+conduct disorder and 45% of them had other diagnoses. 78% of the children received medical treatment. 50% of the children and adolescents were from rural areas. 28% of the children were reported to quit the school.
Conclusion: The study has shown that a large proportion of the examined children were diagnosed with at least one psychiatric disorder. Further studies are needed in order to determine the risks and the protective factors that affect the admitted children to the child protection system psychologically.

Sağlık tedbiri alınan çocuk ve ergenlerin ruhsal açıdan değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, çocuk mahkemeleri tarafından sağlık tedbiri alınan ve çocuk ergen psikiyatrisi polikliniğine yönlendirilen olguların ruhsal bozukluk tanılarını ve sosyodemografik değişkenlerini incelemektir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Sakarya Üniversitesi Çocuk Psikiyatri Polikliniği'ne sağlık tedbiri alınması nedeniyle yönlendirilen çocuk ve ergenler ruhsal bozukluk tanıları, eğitim tedbiri alınıp alınmadığı ve sosyodemografik özellikleri açısından geriye dönük olarak incelenmiştir.
Bulgular: Çocuk ve ergenlerin  % 15’nde tanı olmadığı, %15’nde travma sonrası stres bozukluğu, % 17’nde mental retardasyon ve % 26,3’ünde dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu +davranım bozukluğu ve %45’nde ise diğer tanılar saptanmıştır. Çocuk ve ergenlerin %79’nda ilaç tedavisi uygulanmış olduğu, %50’sinin il merkezinden ve geri kalanlar ise diğer ilçelerden geldiği belirlenmiştir. Çalışmadaki çocuk ve ergenlerin %28’i okulu bırakmış olduğu saptanmıştır.
Sonuç: Çalışmamız çocuk mahkemeleri tarafından sağlık tedbiri alınan çocukların yüksekoranlarda ruhsal bozukluk tanısı aldıklarını göstermektedir. Çocuk koruma sistemi içinde bulunan çocukların ruh sağlığını etkileyen risk ve koruyucu faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla ülkemizde daha fazla çalışma yapılması gerekmektedir
