Yükselen Piyasalarda Elektrik Tüketimi büyüme ilişkisi: Nedensellik Analizi

Öz

Energy a basic input of modern life is an essential determinant of economic growth It is expected that production of goods and services would increase with the contributions of energy usage on one hand and there would be an increase in the usage of goods and services which would lead to even greater amount of energy on the other This study driven by the above mentioned expectation proposes to investigate the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth fort he so called emerging market economies The analysis using the data of 12 sample countries for the period of 1980 2008 indicates that the relationship between these two variables is bidirectional for five countries and one directional for six of them for 3 of which from energy consumption to growth and opposite direction for the remaining 3 while none for just one country Keywords: Electricity consumption Economic growth Cointegration Causality

Öz

Enerji modern yaşamın önemli bir girdisi; ekonomik büyümenin temel bir belirleyicisidir Bir yandan enerji kullanımının katkılarıyla üretilen mal ve hizmet miktarının artması; diğer yandan gelir düzeyi arttıkça daha fazla enerji tüketimine yol açacak mal ve hizmetlerin kullanılması beklenmektedir Bu çalışma anılan beklentiden yola çıkarak enerji tüketimi iktisadi büyüme ilişkisini yükselen piyasa ekonomileri olarak nitelenen ülkeler bakımından araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır Örneklemde yer alan 12 ülkenin 1980 2008 verileri kullanılarak yapılan analiz enerji tüketimi ile büyüme arasında 5 ülkede iki yönlü; 3 ülkede enerji tüketiminden büyümeye; 3 ülkede de ekonomik büyümeden enerji tüketimine doğru tek yönlü ilişkinin varlığını; sadece bir ülkede bu iki değişken arasında bir ilişkinin gözlenmediğini göstermektedir Anahtar kelimeler: Elektrik tüketimi İktisadi büyüme Eş Bütünleşme Nedensellik
