ÇAĞDAŞ SANATTA ZANAAT ÖGELERİNİN YORUMLANMASI: ÖRME TEKNİĞİNİN SERAMİK ÜZERİNDEN İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Bu çalışma, çağdaş seramik sanatında tekstil unsurlarından biri olan örme tekniğinin kullanımını disiplinlerarası bir bağlamda incelemektedir. Bu çerçevede, seramik yüzeylerde örme tekniğinin uygulanma biçimleri analiz edilmiş ve söz konusu tekniğin sunduğu estetik ifade olanakları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın temel hipotezi, seramik ile örme tekniğin birleşiminin geleneksel seramik sanatının ifade olanaklarını genişleterek çağdaş sanat bağlamında özgün bir estetik dil ortaya koyduğu yönündedir. Araştırma kapsamında Liz Crain, Lisa Belsky, Caroline Andrin ve Helen Martin gibi çağdaş seramik sanatçılarının eserleri örneklem yöntemiyle sistematik biçimde analiz edilmiştir. Eser analizleri ve literatür taraması yoluyla elde edilen bulgular, örme tekniğinin seramik yüzeylerde kullanılmasıyla malzemenin fiziksel sınırlarının ötesine geçilerek yeni form ve dokuların geliştirilmesine olanak sağladığını ortaya koymaktadır. Bu disiplinlerarası yaklaşımın, geleneksel el sanatlarının çağdaş sanattaki konumuna ilişkin yeni bir perspektif sunduğu ve kültürel miras ile yenilikçi ifade biçimleri arasında anlamlı bir köprü oluşturduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma, seramik sanatında örme tekniğinin kullanımını sistemli bir biçimde ele alan az sayıdaki çalışmalardan biri olması nedeniyle literatüre özgün bir katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırma, konuyla ilgili akademik çalışmalardan yararlanmak amacıyla kapsamlı bir literatür taraması ve görsel analiz ile gerçekleştirilmiştir.

THE INTERPRETATION OF CRAFT ELEMENTS IN CONTEMPORARY ART: AN EXAMINATION OF THE KNITTING TECHNIQUE THROUGH CERAMICS

Öz

This study examines the use of knitting techniques, one of the textile elements, within a contemporary ceramic art context from an interdisciplinary perspective. In this framework, the methods of applying knitting techniques to ceramic surfaces have been analyzed, and the aesthetic expression possibilities offered by this technique have been evaluated. The primary hypothesis of the study is that the combination of ceramics and knitting expands the expressive possibilities of traditional ceramic art and creates an original aesthetic language within the context of contemporary art. Within the scope of the research, the works by contemporary ceramic artists such as Liz Crain, Lisa Belsky, Caroline Andrin, and Helen Martin were systematically analyzed using a sampling method. Findings obtained through artwork analyses and literature review reveal that the use of the knitting technique on ceramic surfaces allows the material to transcend its physical boundaries, enabling the development of new forms and textures. It is concluded that this interdisciplinary approach offers a new perspective on the position of traditional handicrafts in contemporary art and forms a meaningful bridge between cultural heritage and innovative forms of expression. Since this research is one of the few studies systematically addressing the use of knitting technique in ceramic art, the study is expected to make a original contribution to the literature. The research was conducted through a comprehensive literature review and visual analysis of relevant artworks.
