The Levels of Mystical Experience of the Officials of Religion in Turkey (The Sample of the Region of Giresun)

Abstract

The scale of mystical experience that was advanced by Ralph W. Hood has the characteristic of best sufficient scale that can be understood as an empirical mystical experience. Reliability of Turkish form of this scale that has been developed in a different cultural basin and practicality in our country was fixed up by M. Süheyl Ünal. The aim of this article to show practical example of this scale and contribute to define level of mystical experience of the officials of religion in Turkey. If we summarize some certain results we can say that average of total points of scale is 78.91. The high points mean that levels of mystical experience of the officials of religion are high. Besides we can say that mystical experience intensify in persons which their age are between 30-39 years old and decrease after 40 years partly. Again, we can say that levels of mystical experience of imams are more intensive than other officials of religion. The most important point of results is appearance of mystical experiences outwardly in pattern group of the officials of religion.

Din Görevlilerinin Mistik Tecrübe Düzeyleri (Giresun Yöresi Örneği)

Öz

Ralph W. Hood’un geliştirdiği Mistik Tecrübe Ölçeği, mistik tecrübenin deneysel olarak anlaşılabilmesi açısından en yeterli ölçek olma özelliğini korumaktadır. Farklı bir kültür havzasında geliştirilmiş olan bu ölçeğin Türkçe’ye uyarlanmış formunun yeterli ölçüde güvenilir ve geçerli olduğu ve dolayısıyla ülkemizde uygulanabilirliği M. Süheyl Ünal tarafından belirlenmiştir. Makalenin amacı, bu ölçeğin bir uygulama örneğiyle tanıtımı ve Giresun yöresi örneğinden hareketle Türkiye’de görev yapan din görevlilerinin mistik tecrübe düzeylerinin belirlenmesine katkıda bulunmaktır. Bazı belirgin sonuçları özetlersek, ölçekten elde edilen toplam puan ortalamaları 78.91’dir. Puanların yüksek olması, din görevlilerinin mistik tecrübe düzeylerinin yeterince yüksek olduğu anlamına gelmektedir. Ayrıca bulgulara göre mistik tecrübenin 30-39 yaş arası kişilerde yoğunlaştığını, 40 yaşından sonra ise kısmen azaldığını söyleyebiliriz. Yine, imam-hatiplerin mistik tecrübe düzeylerinin diğer dinî görevlere göre biraz daha yoğun olduğu söylenebilir. Bulgularda en dikkat çekici yön, örneklem grubundaki din görevlilerinde daha çok dışa dönük mistik tecrübelerin olduğunun ortaya çıkmasıdır.
