An Analysis on the Open-Access Publications in "Religious Education" Journal

Öz

Journal articles are viewed as a measure of progress, interests, and quality of research in a field of study. In this study, the open-access publications in the Religious Education journal, which is published under the leadership of the US-based religious education organization Religious Education Association (REA), were analyzed. The research aims to categorize the open-access scientific production of a journal that has been publishing internationally for a long time in the field of religious education and to determine the research trends in the publications. The content analysis method was preferred in analysing the data obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database. According to the research results, it has been determined that open-access publications are in the form of editorial materials, articles and biographical items, and corrections. Despite having a small volume among all the publications of the journal, the data obtained from these publications, in which comprehensive subjects are discussed and various scientific research methods are used, are presented with the support of figures and tables. Additionally, according to another result of the study, no relationship was found between open-access publications and the number of citations belonging to the journal.

"RELIGIOUS EDUCATION" DERGİSİNDEKİ AÇIK ERİŞİMLİ YAYINLAR ÜZERİNE BİR ANALİZ

Öz

Dergi makaleleri, bir çalışma alanındaki ilerlemenin, ilgi alanlarının ve araştırma kalitesinin ölçüsü olarak görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada ABD merkezli din eğitimi organizasyonu Religious Education Association (REA)’nın öncülüğünde yayın yapmakta olan Religious Education dergisindeki açık erişimli yayınların analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı din eğitimi alanında uzun zamandır uluslararası düzeyde yayın yapan bir derginin açık erişimle ilgili bilimsel üretimini kategorize etmek ve yayınlardaki araştırma eğilimlerini belirlemektir. Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanından elde edilmiş verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre açık erişimli yayınların editöryal, araştırma ve biyografi makaleleri ile düzeltme yazıları şeklinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Derginin tüm yayınları arasında az bir hacme sahip olmasına rağmen kapsamlı konuların ele alındığı ve çeşitli bilimsel araştırma yöntemlerinin kullanıldığı bu yayınlarla ilgili elde edilen veriler şekil ve tablolarla desteklenerek sunulmuştur. Ayrıca araştırmanın diğer bir sonucuna göre açık erişimli yayınlar ile dergiye ait atıf sayıları arasında herhangi bir ilişki bulunamamıştır.
