Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research is committed to applying necessary standards and adhering to specific principles in terms of publication ethics. These principles have been prepared based on the recommendations and guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for journal editors.

EDITOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Publication Decisions

The editor of Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research is responsible for deciding which submitted works should be published in the journal. The editor is also responsible for making decisions regarding which works will be published in the journal, taking into account legal requirements related to copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor has the right to negotiate with the reviewers during the pre-publication evaluation process to make a decision about publication. The editor is responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication. The editor also commits to providing a fair and appropriate peer review process.

Conflict of Interest

Unpublished material, content, or data from the works submitted to Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research cannot be used in anyone else's work without the explicit written permission of the author.

Impartiality

The works submitted to Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research are always evaluated without any bias. The works are evaluated solely based on their intellectual value, regardless of the authors' personal preferences and opinions.

Confidentiality

The editor of Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research, along with the assistant editors and the publication committee, is obligated to not disclose the data related to the submitted works to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, other editor consultants, and the publisher.

REVIEWER RESPONSIBILITIES

Timeliness

A reviewer who feels inadequate to evaluate the assigned work, lacks full knowledge of the subject matter, or cannot provide an evaluation within the specified time frame should inform the editor and withdraw from the review task.

Confidentiality

The works under evaluation by the journal are considered confidential documents. During the review process, all works should not be shown to unauthorized individuals, and information, materials, or content related to the work should not be shared. Privileged information and ideas obtained during the peer review process should be kept confidential and should not be used for personal gain.

Impartiality

Reviewer evaluations should be conducted without subjectivity, following scientific ethics and rules. No personal criticism should be directed towards the author(s). Reviewers should express their opinions using supporting arguments and scientific language.

Declaration of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published works not cited by the authors. If a reviewer detects substantial similarity or overlap between the evaluated work and another work previously published within their knowledge, they should bring this to the editor's attention.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should not evaluate works in which there is a conflict of interest due to competition, collaboration, or any other relationship or connection with the author. They should notify the journal editor about such situations.

AUTHORS' RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting Standards

Authors are directly responsible for ensuring that the submission to the Journal of Maritime and Logistics Studies at Mersin University is original and scientific, and it has not been previously published in any other journal. The data used in the study should be presented meticulously. The submitted manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to meet scientific standards. Fraudulent and deliberately false statements are unacceptable as they may lead to unethical situations, and authors are directly responsible for any negative consequences arising from such actions.

Data Access and Retention

During the evaluation process, the Journal of Maritime and Logistics Studies at Mersin University may request access to certain data used in the study but not provided in the manuscript. Therefore, the author(s) should be prepared to provide access to the relevant data and retain these data for a reasonable period following the publication of the study.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should create original content in their studies. If they use others' works, words, data, etc., appropriate citations should be made. By submitting their work to the Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research at Mersin University, authors guarantee that their work is original and compliant with ethical standards, that the citations of the sources used are accurately provided, and that it does not bear similarity to published or forthcoming articles. Authors bear full responsibility for this matter.

Multiple Publication

An author should not publish the same work or a substantial part of it in multiple articles simultaneously. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time is unethical and contrary to scientific principles.

Declaration of Sources

The citation of sources taken from others' works should always be appropriately indicated. Authors are obligated to cite previous publications that have influenced the essence of their reported study.

Authorship of the Study

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the concept, design, implementation, or interpretation of the reported study. All significant contributors should be listed following the first author. If individuals have participated in the research project in various aspects, they should be stated or listed as contributors. Authorship should also include an author responsible for correspondence with the journal's editor. The author responsible for correspondence should ensure the inclusion of all co-authors in the article.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors are required to disclose any financial source or conflict of interest that may affect the conclusions or interpretations in their work.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or flaw in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly inform the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to rectify the existing error or flaw.

PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES

1) The language of the articles submitted to the journal should be Turkish or English.

2) The submitted manuscripts should not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Articles produced from conference papers and symposium presentations can be published in the Journal with a note indicating this on the first page.

3) Accepted or published articles in the Mersin University Journal of Maritime and Logistics Research at Mersin University cannot be reproduced or published in any way without the written permission of the Journal. However, quotations are allowed with proper citation.

4) There will be no copyright fee for the studies, and by submitting their work to our journal, the authors accept that they have transferred the copyright of their work to the journal.

5) The opinions expressed in the published articles and the responsibility for them belong to the authors of the articles.
6) The submitted manuscripts should comply with the rules of writing and grammar.
