Muhaddis Traces of an Identity in the History of Science

Öz

There are different answers to the question, “What does a book offer to the reader?” Some readers may say that they gained knowledge, some that it expanded their world of thought, and some that the book inspired their life. One of the most valuable things a book can offer to the reader – perhaps the most valuable – is that it offers them a perspective/perspective on the subject. The greatest gain for the reader who reaches the end of the book is that they have a perspective from which they can evaluate the issues they will encounter on the subject. Knowing the formation, development and basic points of interest of a branch of science is extremely important in order to look at that branch of science in a comprehensive way and to understand the place its details hold within the whole. The work we have in hand is a beautiful example of a hadith scholar who has written about the basic points of interest of the science of hadith, whether it is history, methodology and commentary, from the beginning to the end, in a free literary language, going beyond academic language. The idea that the history of the science of hadith is not the history of extraordinary events, but the history of the extraordinary efforts and endeavors of the "muhaddis" who devoted themselves to this work, is constantly flowing as the main idea in the background of the work. It can be stated that the work will make a positive contribution to the society's perspective on hadith, will relatively prevent incorrect and biased interpretations resulting from lack of knowledge and perspective, and will be a means for approaching hadiths on a correct basis. In addition, it can be said that another aspect that makes the work important is that it tries to present the main stops of the history of hadith by using the possibilities of narrative and descriptive/descriptive narration, starting from the efforts of the hadith companions, and in a chronological time, by indicating the elements of event, place, person and time, in a holistic story structure with a simple and fluent narrative style.

Sezai Engin. Muhaddis: İlim Tarihinde Bir Kimliğin İzleri

Öz

“Bir kitabın okura sunduğu şey nedir?” sorusuna farklı cevaplar verilebilir. Kimi okur bilgi edindiğini, kimi düşünce dünyasını genişlettiğini kimi de kitabın hayatına ilham kaynağı olduğunu söyleyebilir. Kitabın okura sunabileceği en değerli şeylerden biri -belki de en değerlisi- ona konu hakkında perspektif/bakış açısı sunmasıdır. Kitabın sonuna ulaşan okurun konuyla alakalı karşılaşacağı hususlarda değerlendirme yapabileceği bir bakış açısına sahip olması en büyük kazancıdır. Bir ilim dalının oluşum, gelişim ve temel uğrak noktalarının bilinmesi, o ilim dalına külliyetli bir şekilde bakılması ve teferruatlarının bütün içinde tuttuğu yerin anlaşılması için son derece önemlidir. Elimizdeki eser, hadisçi bir akademisyenin hadis ilminin gerek tarih gerekse usûl ve şerh olsun başlangıcından sonuna kadar temel uğrak noktalarını akademik dilin dışına çıkarak serbest edebi bir dille kaleme aldığı olgusal anlatımın güzel bir örneğini teşkil etmektedir. Hadis ilminin tarihinin olağanüstülüklerin tarihi değil, bu işe gönül vermiş “muhaddis”lerin olağanüstü çaba ve gayretlerinin tarihi olduğu düşüncesi eserin arka planında ana düşünce olarak sürekli akmaktadır. Eserin toplumun hadisle ilgili bakış açısına olumlu katkı yapacağı, bilgi ve perspektif eksikliğinden kaynaklanan yanlış ve yanlı yorumları nispeten engelleyeceği, hadislere doğru bir zeminde yaklaşılmasına vesile olacağı belirtilebilir. Ayrıca eseri önemli kılan diğer bir hususun öyküleyici ve betimleyici/tasviri anlatımın imkânlarından yararlanılarak hadis tarihinin temel durakları muhaddis sahâbenin çabalarından başlayarak hareket halinde kronolojik bir zaman içinde olay, yer, kişi ve zaman öğeleri belirtilerek sade ve akıcı anlatım üslûbuyla bütüncül bir hikâye yapısı içinde sunulmaya çalışılması olduğu söylenebilir.
