After being elected as a ruler by the represantatives of Yathrib people in the Aqaba talks in Mecca, Prophet Muhammad (saw) migrated and turned Yathrib into al-Madina. Abdullah b. Ubey b. Selûl, and Abu Âmir who lost Yathrib and their position and those who acted with these people were involved in the anti-hijrah movement, and continued their resistance. Abdullah b. Ubey continued their resistance in Medina and Abu Amir outside, and they worked to return Yathrib, which turned into al-Medina, back to pre-Islamic times. The most concrete indicator of these studies is the Masjid al-Dirâr, which is mentioned in the Surah of Tawba. The verses mentioning the Masjid al-Dırâr reveal that those who built this building conceal their purpose. Acting in hypocrisy, these people abused the pure feelings of those who could not realize their true intentions. They invited Prophet Muhammad (saw) to gain legitimacy to the building prepared for Abu Âmir to pray, by preparing military power to recapture Madina. Although it is called a mosque and it is stated that prayers will be performed in it, the Quran states that this place is a center that harms, denies and divides believers, and protects anyone who wages war against Allah and His Messenger.
