Performing the five-time daily fardh prayers in congregation is one of the issues that are emphasized in the ahadith (hadiths). Considering the hadiths on this issue, one of the most important considerations that draw attention is the various discourse and statements in the content about the virtue of prayer performed by the congregation. In many hadiths, the Prophet Muhammed (saw) encouraged Muslims to pray with the congregation by stating that the prayer performed in community is more virtuous than the prayer performed alone. While some hadiths on this issue use general expression about virtue, other hadiths include numerical values as the degree of virtue. In the hadiths, numerical values are mentioned as the form of “twenty-odd”, “twenty-four”, “twenty-four or twenty-five”, “twenty-five”, “twenty-seven” and “twenty-seven or twenty-five”. Even in a hadith, “fifty” degrees are mentioned for prayer performed in the countryside. This situation has led to the formation of an apparent contradiction among the hadiths. In this article, it has been discussed the evaluation of the deeds and texts of the hadiths on this topic and tried to explain both the authenticity of the hadiths and what is meant by the hadiths.
