THE PERCEPTION OF HUMOROUS TEXTS BY FEMALE AND MALE CHILDREN

Abstract

This study aims at discussing if there is a significant difference between male and female students’ comprehension skills of humorous texts. Therefore, six Nasreddin Hodja’s jokes in Turkish books for the first graders in Turkey have been given to 120 students in Samsun, Turkey. Both reading and listening comprehension skills of the first graders have been tested through 41 questions about the six jokes. The data have been analysed by SPSS. It has been indicated that the comprehension competence of both female and male students can be said to be insufficient for humorous texts

FIKRA METİNLERİNİN KIZ VE ERKEK ÇOCUKLAR TARAFINDAN ALGILANIŞI

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı kız ve erkek çocukların gülmece metinlerini kavramada aralarında anlamlı fark olup olmadığını tartışmaktır. Bu nedenle birinci sınıf Türkçe ders kitaplarındaki 6 adet Nasreddin Hoca fıkrası Samsun’daki ilköğretim birinci sınıfında okuyan 120 öğrenciye verilmiştir. Birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin gülmece metinlerini okurken ve dinlerken kullandıkları algılama edinçleri altı fıkradan çıkarılan 41 soru ile saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular SPSS istatistik paket programı ile değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuçlar, kız ve erkek öğrencilerin gülmece metinlerini algılarken kullandıkları kavrama edinçlerinin yetersiz olduğunu göstermiştir
