Quantitative Comparıison of The Preparation Efficiencies of Two Different Rotary File Systems in Permanent Mandibular Molars

Öz

Aim: Use of different rotary file systems in permanent teeth, in the preparation phase of root canal treatment, is becoming increasingly common. The amount of dentin remaining after preparation is important for prognosis of treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate residual dentin weight and preparation efficiency after using of the WaveOne Gold and TruNatomy file systems in root-canal treatment of mandibular molars.
Material and Methods: This study was carried out on 30 permanent mandibular molars, which were extracted for various reasons. Firstly, access cavities of teeth were prepared and weights of them were recorded with precision scales that can show five decimal places before the preparation. Root canals in each group (n=15) were prepared with WaveOne Gold and TruNatomy file systems. After preparation, weights of all teeth were re-measured and recorded.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference between pre- and post-preparation mean weights in both groups. When average weight reductions between the groups were compared, the average weight reduction in WaveOne Gold group was statistically significantly higher than TruNatomy group (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: WaveOne Gold rotary file system can remove a larger amount of dentine and pulp tissue than TruNatomy rotary file system.

İki Farklı Döner Eğe Sisteminin Daimi Mandibuler Molar Dişlerde Preparasyon Etkinliklerinin Kantitatif Olarak Karşılaştırılması

Öz

Amaç: Daimi dişlerde, kanal tedavisi preparasyon aşamasında farklı döner eğe sistemlerinin kullanımı giderek yaygınlaşmaktadır. Preparasyon sonrası, kalan dentin miktarı tedavinin prognozu açısından önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, resiprokasyon hareketiyle çalışan WaveOne Gold ve rotasyon hareketiyle çalışan TruNatomy eğe sistemlerinin mandibuler molar dişlerin kök-kanal tedavisinde kullanımından sonra kalan dentin ağırlığını ve preparasyon etkinliğini değerlendirmektir.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu araştırma çeşitli nedenlerle çekimi endike olan 30 adet daimi mandibuler molar diş üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öncelikle dişlere giriş kaviteleri açılmış ve preparasyon öncesi tüm dişlerin, virgülden sonra 5 basamak gösterebilen hassas terazi ile ağırlıkları kaydedilmiştir. Her gruptaki (n=15) kök kanalları, WaveOne Gold ve TruNatomy eğe sistemleri ile prepare edilmiştir. Preparasyon sonrası tüm dişlerin ağırlıkları yeniden ölçülmüş ve kaydedilmiştir.
Bulgular: Her iki grupta preparasyon öncesi ve preparasyon sonrası ortalama ağırlıklar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı görülmüştür. Gruplar arasında ortalama ağırlıklardaki azalma miktarları karşılaştırıldığında ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde WaveOne Gold grubundaki ortalama ağırlık azalma miktarının TruNatomy grubuna göre daha fazla olduğu bulunmuştur (p < 0,05).
Sonuç: Bu sonuç WaveOne Gold döner eğe sisteminin TruNatomy döner eğe sistemine göre daha fazla miktarda dentin ve pulpa dokusu uzaklaştırabildiğini göstermektedir.
