parable in Shams Tabrizi’s Sonnets
Öz
Allegory is a way of indirect or metaphorical expression, having in different forms and types. Allegory can be in a short or extended form; as it is sometimes limited to a few stanzas or lines in a poem or extended throughout a literary work, which in that case is called the narrative allegory. . Narrative allegory is a type of narration which has two levels of explicit or literal and implicit or connotative meaning, and behind the literal and explicit meaning there is an implicit or second meaning which is the real and main purpose of the narration. Narrative allegory in terms of form and structure is divided into fable allegory and parable allegory. Parable heroes are human characters and its structure is to consolidate and affirm moral intentions. Among the initiatives of Rumi in sonnets is the use of this type of allegory. Rumi used these allegories to objectify mystical-moral issues, to expand theoretical and religious concepts and personal mystical experiences. In these allegories, the purpose of expressing the narration is to explain and emphasize the state and situation that has been mentioned in the verses before or after, and not just to narrate the narration, because for Rumi, narration is an excuse and a means of conveying meaning. The number of these allegories is 31 and there are three categories of characters in it: A. Religious figures and elders of Sofia, B. Allegories whose heroes are historical figures or the stories themselves have historical origins, C. Allegories whose protagonists are slang characters.
