CHOICE OF POWER PLANTS WITH AHP TECHNIQUE IN TURKEY
Öz
While evaluating energy and energy source, price, ease of obtaining, depence on other countries and also the environmental and health effects are considered. In 2007, It is explained in ITU’s st udy, ‘‘Energy and Future in Turkey’’, approximately 4.5 billion of the worlds population of 6.5 billion consume lower energy than the world average; 2.4 billion of that depend on noncommercial energy sources (wood, plant-animal residues); electricity is not reached to 1.6 billion and energy consumption per person in developed countries are 7 times higher than devepoloping countries. Goverments go towards alternative energy because of the energy which demand of developed and developing countries.
In a study, interviewing a person who works in a energy sector in Turkey, 6 alternatives and 5 criteria are determined. Alternatives are coal/lignite, natural gas, hyroelectrc, nuclear, geothermal and wind energy plants. Criterias are environment, technology and sutainability, impacts, installation and profitability. When we choice of these alternatives, analytic hierachy process (AHP) method is used. By analyzing the results of the method, it is decided which method should be choosen.
