The principal aim of this study is to scrutinize the impact of Marxist-Leninist ideology on China's foreign policy from the Mao Zedong era to the present Xi Jinping era. The author primarily utilized the secondary data analysis approach to conduct this investigation. The findings of this study reveal that the role of ideology has persisted as a significant factor in China's foreign policy from the post-Mao period, commencing from Deng Xiaoping's reign to the current presidency of Xi Jinping. Furthermore, this study underscores that examining the role of Marxist-Leninist ideology in China's foreign policy can aid researchers in predicting China's next moves on critical issues such as China's assertive behavior in the South China Sea under Xi Jinping's leadership, the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands dispute in the East China Sea, the PRC's sovereignty claims over Taiwan, and its rivalry with the United States on multiple global issues.
