Resimli Kitaplarda Bibliyoterapi: Bomba ve General Üzerinden Barışçıl Bir Yaklaşım

Öz

Bu çalışma, resimli çocuk/yetişkin kitaplarının bibliyoterapi bağlamında nasıl işlevsel hale gelebileceğini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada, Umberto Eco ve Eugenio Carmi'nin ortak eseri Cecü’nün Yer Cüceleri adlı kitapta bulunan üç masaldan biri olan Bomba ve General örneklem olarak ele alınmıştır. Resimli kitapların yalnızca bireylerin bilişsel ve duygusal gelişiminde değil, aynı zamanda eleştirel düşünme süreçlerinde de önemli bir rol oynadığı bilinmektedir. Görsel ve yazınsal ögelerin bütüncül biçimde sunulduğu bu edebi tür, alternatif düşünme biçimleri oluşturma hem toplumsal hem bireysel meseleleri farklı açılardan değerlendirme imkânı sunmaktadır. Yöntem olarak nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan görsel içerik analizi kullanılmış; kitabın renk paleti, kompozisyonu, karakter betimlemeleri ve kullanılan imgeler üzerinden derinlemesine bir çözümleme yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak Bomba ve General adlı masalda, savaş nesnesi olan bombaların çiçek saksılarına dönüşmesi gibi metaforik imgelerle travmatik deneyimlerin yeniden yapılandırıldığı ve okura umut aşılandığı görülmüştür. Çalışma, çocuk/yetişkinlere yönelik bibliyoterapötik içerik geliştirme süreçlerine görsel anlatımın nasıl entegre edilebileceğine dair özgün bir örnek sunmaktadır.

BIBLIOTHERAPY IN PICTURE BOOKS: A PEACEFUL APPROACH THROUGH THE BOMB AND THE GENERAL

Öz

This study aims to examine how illustrated children’s/adult books can be made functional within the context of bibliotherapy. In the study, The Bomb and the General, one of the three fairy tales included in The Gnomes of Cecü, a collaborative work by Umberto Eco and Eugenio Carmi, is selected as the sample. It is widely acknowledged that illustrated books play a significant role not only in individuals’ cognitive and emotional development but also in their critical thinking processes. This literary genre, in which visual and textual elements are presented holistically, offers opportunities to construct alternative modes of thinking and to evaluate both social and individual issues from different perspectives. As a methodological approach, visual content analysis—one of the qualitative research designs—was employed, and an in-depth analysis was conducted based on the book’s color palette, composition, character representations, and the imagery used. As a result, it was observed that in the fairy tale The Bomb and the General, traumatic experiences are restructured and hope is instilled in the reader through metaphorical images, such as bombs—objects of war—being transformed into flower pots. The study presents an original example of how visual narration can be integrated into the processes of developing bibliotherapeutic content for children and adults.
