This study, prepared with the compilation method, aims to examine “whether technological anxiety plays a role in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by stakeholders”. The scope of this study is limited to examining the opinions in the literature on whether technological anxiety plays a role in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by stakeholders. In this context, the research problem is presented as “does technological anxiety play a role in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by stakeholders?” while the research hypothesis is structured as “technological anxiety plays a role in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by stakeholders”. The findings obtained with the ‘compilation’ method used in the study show that “technological anxiety plays a role in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by stakeholders”. In the study, instead of a limited number of data sources, opinions obtained from very different and many data sources were brought together to make our research original. In this way, protection was provided against the excessive influence of the findings obtained from a limited number of studies on the reader and even against the overlooking of important perspectives.
With the development of technology, distances are losing their importance in reaching any service and all kinds of services can be delivered to the requester through different means. One of these services is the telemedicine application, which has been put into practice with the development of health technologies. Telemedicine is the application of medicine between long distances using information and communication technologies in the field of health, using data communication tools such as voice, image, document, etc. Although the objects that technology brings to our lives seem to have a facilitating function at first glance, they have gone beyond the facilitating function and entered the process of becoming dominant. This situation naturally becomes a source of anxiety for people. This anxiety causes some obstacles/limitations in the acceptance of telemedicine applications by both society and health professionals and in their integration into the health system and widespread use. This study was prepared with the qualitative research method; It includes the presentation of the basic concepts related to “telemedicine” and “technology anxiety” and the relationships between these concepts in a pattern from general to specific and the drawing of their boundaries. In this study, it is aimed to explain the concepts of “telemedicine” and “technology anxiety” and to convey in what dimensions, meanings or limitations these phenomena should be addressed and interpreted or what meanings they will carry when reflected in practice.
As a result of the research; it has been seen that telemedicine applications can connect metropolitan specialists to patients in rural areas, reduce unnecessary hospitalizations, transfer and medical care costs, and facilitate access to care; however, in addition to these numerous benefits, telemedicine applications contain limitations in terms of communication dimensions such as body language, nonverbal communication, and the characteristics of the location compared to face-to-face relationships, and the possible negative effects of these limitations may weaken the hand of the disadvantaged party in the patient-doctor relationship, which is inherently asymmetrical, while strengthening the hand of the advantaged party; however, it has also been seen that health professionals defined as advantaged in telemedicine applications may experience “technological anxiety” for various reasons.
Derleme yöntemi ile hazırlanan bu çalışmada tele-tıp uygulamalarının paydaşlarca kabulündeki teknolojik kaygının rol oynayıp-oynamadığının irdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın kapsamı, tele-tıp uygulamalarının paydaşlarca kabulündeki teknolojik kaygının rol oynayıp-oynamadığı konusunda alan yazındaki görüşleri incelemek ile sınırlıdır. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın sorunsalı: “tele-tıp uygulamalarının paydaşlarca kabulünde teknolojik kaygı rol oynamakta mıdır?” şeklinde ortaya konulurken hipotez; “tele-tıp uygulamalarının paydaşlarca kabulünde teknolojik kaygı rol oynamaktadır” şeklinde kurgulanmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılan ‘derleme’ yöntemi ile ulaşılan bulgular “tele-tıp uygulamalarının paydaşlarca kabulünde teknolojik kaygının rol oynadığını” göstermektedir. Sınırlı sayıda veri kaynağı yerine çok farklı ve fazla sayıda veri kaynağından elde edilen görüşler bir araya getirilerek çalışma özgün kılınmaya çalışılmıştır. Böylece sınırlı sayıda çalışmadan elde edilen bulguların okuyucuyu aşırı derecede etkilemesine, hatta önemli bakış açılarının gözden kaçırılmasına karşı koruma sağlanmıştır.
