Wood and wooden composite materials have some unfavorable properties. One of these unfavorable properties is inflammability and ignitability of material. For this purpose, the studies related to strengthen using treatment with different fire retardant chemicals investigate to increase durability of them affecting on combustion characteristic of materials. These chemicals use aim of fire retardant are also effect on physical, mechanical and other some properties of the materials treat with them. In this study, it worked to collect under specific title related to effect of treatment with fire retardant chemicals on technologic properties of wood and wooden materials in literature.
In wood and wooden materials treated with fire retardant chemicals, it is seen hygroscopic properties increase, strength properties decrease, specific gravity increase, change of dimensional depending applied treatment, degradation, formation of the corrosion contact with metal fasteners, gluing problems, abrasion increase, leaching problem, surface roughness and thermal conductivity coefficient increase based on structural properties of the chemicals used in treatment.
