Evidence-Based Practices in Postpartum Hemorrhage

One quarter of the maternal deaths in the world occur due to postpartum haemorrhage. The implementation of the attempts for the prevention of the postpartum haemorrhage with the early diagnosis and the provision of treatment can decrease significantly the morbidity and mortality rates. The prevention of the postpartum haemorrhage and the provision of the treatment are possible by the improvement of the care given during the postpartum period and by the use of evidence –based clinical practice. During this period; implementing uterotonics, making controlled cord traction, uterine massage, procedures for the placenta and uterine and the use of medical protocols are the primary methods used for prevention and treatment of haemorrhage. In this review the evidence–based practices intending the prevention and treatment of the postpartum haemorrhage were discussed according to the level of evidence published by the World Health Organization.

Postpartum Kanamalarda Kanıta Dayalı Uygulamalar

Öz

Dünyada anne ölümlerinin dörtte biri postpartum kanamalar nedeniyle meydana gelmektedir. Postpartum kanamanın önlenmesine yönelik girişimlerin uygulanması, erken tanılanması ve tedavisinin sağlanmasıyla morbidite ve mortalite oranları önemli ölçüde azaltılabilir. Postpartum kanamaların önlenmesi ve tedavisinin sağlanması postpartum dönemde verilen bakımın kalitesinin artırılması, bunun için de klinikte kanıta dayalı uygulamaların kullanılması ile mümkündür. Bu dönemde; uterotoniklerin uygulanması, kontrollü kord traksiyonu yapılması, uterus masajı, plasentaya ve uterusa yönelik girişimler ve sağlık protokollerinin kullanılması kanamanın önlenmesi ve tedavisi için kullanılan başlıca yöntemlerdir. Bu derlemede, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü’nün yayınladığı kanıt düzeylerine göre, postpartum kanamaların önlenmesi ve tedavisine yönelik kullanılan kanıta dayalı uygulamalar ele alınmıştır.
