ENEZ'İN (EDİRNE) KENTSEL GELİŞİM SÜRECİ VE YENİ GELİŞME ALANLARI

Our research subject, Enez is a town which is situated in Trakya part of Marmara region on the northwest point of Saros Bay. The town which is located on the north of Agean Sea is a signifıcant place not only with its historical and archeological irnportance and wet areas where a !ot of water birds come every year but also with being a good exarnple for the effects of being a border town on urbanization. The Meriç river which is the north-west border of the town also makes the border between Greece and our country. Because of that although Enez has a high agricultural potential as being on the delta of the Meriç river it is faced with ınany negativeties conditions that are caused by its location and natura! environınent. This articJe is a presentation of the research that was made in the region area during the surnmer of 1998. Firstly, we emphasize the progress of urbanization of Enez from the early beginning till today under the light of naturaJ and human factors and the efforts on placement to Trapez area and on Keşan road which is especially actual nowadays will be evaluated with a geographical point of view.
