THE CURRENT APPROACH TO CANCER TREATMENT: BIOTHERAPY AND NURSING MANAGEMENT

Biotherapy is used to describe the use of biologic agents to activate the immun system. The Food and Drug Administration FDA defines biotherapy as ‘the use of living organisms or products derived from living organismis to produce modify or improve a plan tor animal for a specific purpose. The use of biotherapy as a treatment for cancer is increasing. Nurses need to be knowledge about this treatment to provide optimal patient care. Providing quality care for patients biotherapy nursing management of patients biotherapy needs to be planned as the individual specific. Nurses should provide four areas when caring for the patient receiving biotherapy: side effects management, patient education, economic issues, and psychosocial issues. Nurses to minimize side effects and patient initiatives which are necessary to ensure the comfort of initiatives are planned. Nurses in fatigue and other symptoms of the patients in activities of daily living activities to help plan and helps the patients symptoms can be tolerated. Patient and family in terms of side effects, side effects in the field of observation and reporting of training should be given. As healthcare moves to into the year 2000, the area of biotherapy will see mora FDA-approved agents used as Standard cancer treatment. Nurses who provide care for persons with cancer need to understand this treatment approach and to participate actively in its development. This article is a new concept in patient care biyoterapi and biyoterapi field will be discussed

KANSER TEDAVİSİNDE GÜNCEL YAKLAŞIM: BİYOTERAPİ VE HEMŞİRELİK YÖNETİMİ

Öz

Biyoterapi immun sistemi aktive eden biyolojik ajanların kullanımını tanımlamada kullanılan bir terimdir. FDA Food and Drug Administiration biyoterapiyi yaşayan organizmaların kullanımı veya spesifik amaçlar için hayvanlarda ya da plantlarda üretim, değişim veya gelişim sağlamak amacıyla yaşayan organizmalardan alınan ürünler olarak tanımlamıştır. Kanser tedavisinde biyoterapinin kullanımı giderek artmaktadır. Bu yüzden hemşireler optimal hasta bakımını sağlamak için bu tedavi şekli hakkında bilgiye sahip olmalıdırlar. Biyoterapi alan hastada kaliteli bakımın sağlanması için hemşirelik yönetimi hastanın ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda bireye özgü olarak planlanmalıdır. Hemşireler yan etkilerin yönetimi, hasta eğitimi, ekonomik konular ve psikososyal konular olmak üzere hasta bakımını dört alanda sağlamalıdır. Hemşireler yan etkileri azaltacak girişimlerle yorgunluk ve diğer semptomların en aza indirilmesini sağlanmalıdır. Hastanın ve aile üyelerinin tedavi süreci, yan etkilerin gözlenmesi ve rapor edilmesi konularında eğitim verilmelidir. Sağlık alanında 2000 yıllarda meydana gelen değişikliklerle birlikte biyoterapi alanında FDA onaylı ajanların kullanımı daha sıklıkla görülecektir. Kanserli hastalara bakım veren hemşirelerin de tedavi yaklaşımını anlamaları ve bu alandaki gelişmelere katılmaları gerekecektir. Bu makale de yeni bir kavram olan biyoterapi ve biyoterapi alan hastanın bakımı tartışılacaktır
