İSKİTLERİN MS 238-254 YILLARI ARASINDA ROMA TOPRAKLARINI İSTİLALARI ÜZERİNE YENİ DEĞERLENDİRMELER

Öz

Roma toprakları, Severus Alexander - Lucius Domitius Aurelianus iktidarları arasındaki dönemde yoğun bir şekilde sözde “barbarların” istila hareketlerine uğramıştır. Antik dönem edebi kaynaklarında bu istilacı kavimler arasında İskit, Gothi, Carpi, Quadi, Taifali, Iuthungi, Astringi, Marcomanni, Vandali, Heruli, Peucini, Borani ve Urugundi gibi pek çok etnisitenin adı verilmiştir. Günümüz araştırmacıları, antik kaynaklarda yer yer farklı isimlere yer verilmesine rağmen, bu istila hareketlerini “Goth” ve “Heruli” adı altında değerlendirmeyi uygun görmüşlerdir; bu bağlamda MS 238-254 yılları arasındaki istila hareketleri için genellikle “Goth” başlığını kullanmışlardır. Bu isim altındaki değerlendirmelerinde “Goth” ırkının övüldüğü Iordanes’in Getica adlı eseri ve bu eseri takip eden Geç Antik Dönem kaynaklarının etkisinin olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Diğer yandan, ilgili dönemdeki istila hareketlerinin çağdaşı Dexippos’un, -başta Scythica’sı olmak üzere-, eserlerinde ise istilacılar için “İskitler” adı öne çıkarılmıştır. Bu dikkate alındığında çalışmanın kapsamındaki dönemde özellikle Kuzeydoğu’da Kırım ve Aşağı Tuna üzerinden gelen istilacılar için “İskit” kökenli ayrımının yapılması önerilebilir. Bu çalışmada ayrıca Dexippos’un yeni keşfedilen fragmanlarının yorumlanıp genelde onu takip eden Geç Antik Dönem yazarlarının metinleriyle karşılaştırılması ve şimdiye kadar yapılmamış olan bütüncül bir tarih anlatımının ortaya konulması hedeflenmektedir.
