OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION THROUGH ETWINNING

Öz

Educational innovation in the knowledge society is closely linked to the development of complex competences that enable learners and teachers to respond to uncertainty, digital transformation, and intercultural interconnectedness. While innovation is frequently associated with technological integration, contemporary research emphasizes its systemic and competence-driven character. This article examines educational innovation through a competence-based lens and explores how the European eTwinning platform operationalizes the competences necessary for innovative practice. Building on established frameworks from the OECD, the European Commission, and leading scholars in educational change, the paper defines innovation as a process-oriented transformation of pedagogical structures. The article describes the main competences required for innovation, including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, digital competence, intercultural awareness, and adaptability, and analyses their theoretical interrelations. It demonstrates how eTwinning provides structural conditions for the development and application of competences through project-based, digitally mediated, and cross-border collaboration. The paper thus provides a theoretical synthesis that explains macro-level competence frameworks and micro-level pedagogical practices within eTwinning.

ETWINNING ARACILIĞIYLA EĞİTİMDE YENİLİKÇİLİK İMKÂNLARI

Öz

Bilgi toplumunda eğitimde yenilikçilik, öğrenenlerin ve öğretmenlerin belirsizliğe, dijital dönüşüme ve kültürlerarası bağlantılılığa yanıt verebilmelerini sağlayan karmaşık yeterliliklerin geliştirilmesiyle yakından bağlantılıdır. Yenilikçilik genellikle teknolojik entegrasyonla ilişkilendirilse de, güncel araştırmalar bu kavramın sistemik ve yeterlilik odaklı niteliğini vurgulamaktadır. Bu makale, eğitimde yenilikçiliği yeterlilik temelli bir bakış açısıyla incelemekte ve Avrupa eTwinning platformunun yenilikçi uygulamalar için gerekli olan yeterlilikleri nasıl hayata geçirdiğini araştırmaktadır. OECD, Avrupa Komisyonu ve eğitimde değişim konusunda önde gelen akademisyenlerin oluşturduğu çerçevelerden yola çıkan makale, yeniliği pedagojik yapıların süreç odaklı bir dönüşümü olarak tanımlamaktadır. Makale, eleştirel düşünme, işbirliği, iletişim, dijital yeterlilik, kültürlerarası farkındalık ve uyum yeteneği dahil olmak üzere inovasyon için gerekli ana yeterlilikleri tanımlamakta ve bunların teorik ilişkilerini analiz etmektedir. Makale, eTwinning'in proje tabanlı, dijital aracılı ve sınır ötesi işbirliği yoluyla yeterliliklerin geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması için nasıl yapısal koşullar sağladığını göstermektedir. Böylece makale, eTwinning içindeki makro düzeydeki yeterlilik çerçevelerini ve mikro düzeydeki pedagojik uygulamaları açıklayan teorik bir sentez sunmaktadır.
