Different Terms Using The Word Safety in The Field of Occupational Health and Safety

Öz

Occupational health and safety is the discipline dedicated to protecting employees' physical and mental health, mitigating workplace risks, and ensuring a safe workplace. Occupational health and safety has become even more significant due to technological developments, changed working conditions, and increased competition. In this context, understanding safety includes more than managing risks and hazards; it also presents the essential principles that guide all workplace processes. This study aims to evaluate the richness of the conceptual framework to highlight the contributions of the terms "safety culture," "safety climate," "safety performance," and "safety motivation," as well as their definitions and origins in occupational health and safety, and their effects on workplace practices. The collaboration of all these elements highlights their efficient role in creating a safe work environment when occupational health and safety concepts are stressed holistically.

Güvenlik Kelimesinin İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği Alanındaki Farklı Terim Kullanımları

Öz

İş sağlığı ve güvenliği, çalışanların fiziksel ve ruhsal bütünlüğünü korumayı, iş yerlerinde karşılaşılan riskleri azaltmayı ve güvenli bir çalışma ortamı oluşturmayı amaçlayan bir disiplindir. Teknolojik gelişmeler, değişen çalışma koşulları ve artan rekabet ortamı, iş sağlığı ve güvenliği kavramını giderek daha önemli hale getirmiştir. Bu kapsamda, güvenlik anlayışı yalnızca tehlike ve risklerin yönetilmesiyle sınırlı kalmaz; aynı zamanda iş yerindeki tüm süreçleri şekillendiren temel ilkeleri de kapsar. Bu çalışmanın amacı, iş sağlığı ve güvenliği alanında yaygın olarak kullanılan “güvenlik kültürü”, “güvenlik iklimi”, “güvenlik performansı” ve “güvenlik motivasyonu” terimlerini kökenleri ve tanımlarıyla incelemek, bu terimlerin iş yerlerindeki uygulamalara etkilerini ele almak ve kavramsal çerçevenin zenginliğini değerlendirerek sağladığı katkıları ortaya koymaktır. Tüm bu unsurların bir arada çalışması, iş sağlığı ve güvenliği kavramlarının bütünsel bir yaklaşım içinde ele alındığında, güvenli bir iş ortamı oluşturulmasındaki etkili rolünü vurgulamaktadır.
