The Components that Constitute the Modern Bow

Considering the musician-luthier relationship, it is important that two professions that cannot be independent of each other meet in a joint jargon. The lack of common terminology is felt mostly in instruments that have passed into our music from the West. It would not be wrong to say that some abstract concepts used when talking about a subject related to an instrument are extensively adopted in our language. For example, the definition of "metallic sound" is understandable to most music professionals. On the other hand, the lack of a common terminology regarding the structure of instruments is observed, and it is noticed that there are many issues that need to be studied in this field. In this study, in which we discuss the instruments that we use to get sound from the violin family instruments and which we define as "Modern Bow" or simply "Bow", we aim to contribute to the terminology by introducing the parts of the bow, as well as by offering Turkish equivalents for these parts.

Modern Yayı Oluşturan Bölümler

Öz

Müzisyen-çalgı yapımcı ilişkisi düşünüldüğünde, birbirinden bağımsız olamayacak bu iki mesleğin ortak bir dilde buluşması önemlidir. Ortak terminoloji eksikliği, batıdan müziğimize geçen çalgılarda kendini daha çok hissettirir. Çalgı ile ilgili bir durumdan bahsederken kullanılan kimi soyut kavramların dilimize yerleştiğini söyleyebiliriz. Örneğin “metalik ses” tanımlaması pek çok müzik insanı için ortak bir nitelik taşıyabilmektedir. Öte yandan çalgıların yapısı ile ilgili olarak ortak bir terminolojinin yoksunluğu gözlemlenir ve bu alanda çalışılması gereken pek çok konu olduğu göze çarpmaktadır. Keman ailesi çalgılarından ses almak için kullandığımız ve “Modern Yay” ya da kısaca “Yay” olarak tanımladığımız araçları ele aldığımız bu çalışma ile yayın bölümlerinin tanıtılmasının yanı sıra bu bölümlere Türkçe karşılıklar arayarak terminolojiye katkı yapmayı hedeflemekteyiz.
