Energy is the golden thread that connects economic growth, increased social equity, and an environment that allows the world to thrive. Access to energy is a necessary precondition to achieving many development goals that extend far beyond the energy sector, eradicating poverty, increasing food production, providing clean water, improving public health, enhancing education, creating economic opportunity. The transition to sustainable energy systems also presents one of the greatest investment opportunities of the 21st century. Development is not possible without energy, and sustainable development is not possible without sustainable energy. This research focuses on the possibility to improve the technology in Cyprus and to investigate about the options from the actual company, which is Cyprus Turkish Electricity Utility Company (KIB-TEK), responsible for producing, transmitting and distributing electricity to the consumers in North Cyprus. The research investigated the Photovoltaic system in North Cyprus. Photovoltaic is a method of electricity production that does not use nor releases harmful substances to the environment. It is one of the production systems commonly called clean energy. If the Middle Eastern countries like Cyprus, where high solar energy potential exists, the real situation shows a lack of developments about this technology. The aim is to find out the best solar energy system that suits with climatically conditions, economic conditions and to make people believe that the investment will be rewarded at the end. Considering the situation of North Cyprus, the urgent necessity of a new electric system will be important for the future of the environment and for the European standard. As a result this context, the issue of Northern Cyprus un-consideration of renewable energy is a big concern depends renewable energy to achieve sustainable environmentally friendly buildings. Lack of reliable renewable energy source, requires the use of photovoltaic technology. The application of this technology in North Cyprus, will lead to social sustainability and therefore cause an increase in the foreign trade market and business opportunities will dramatically increase the sustainability of the building as a unit.
