Experimental and ANOVA-Based Statistical Analysis of the Effects of Infill Pattern and Density on the Tensile Properties of FDM-Printed ABS, PETG, and PLA Thermoplastics
Öz
In this study, the effects of material type, infill pattern, and infill density on the tensile strength of ABS, PLA, and PETG specimens manufactured using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) method were investigated. The effects of different infill patterns (linear, triangular, and honeycomb) and infill densities (15%, 30%, and 45%) on the mechanical properties were experimentally examined, and the obtained data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results indicated that mechanical performance generally increased with increasing infill density. According to the ANOVA results, filament type had a dominant effect on mechanical properties, contributing 83.64% to tensile strength, 54.95% to elongation, and 88.51% to the modulus of elasticity. The infill pattern showed a secondary effect on elongation (18.67%), whereas infill density exhibited secondary effects on tensile strength (8.89%) and modulus of elasticity (6.70%). Furthermore, specific strength and specific modulus values were calculated using the effective densities of the samples to evaluate performance per unit weight. Repeated ANOVA analyses revealed that the effect of infill density on specific tensile strength increased significantly to 28.17%, while no significant effect was observed on the specific modulus.
