This study examines the relationship between homeownership and happiness levels in Turkey using data from the Turkish Statistical Institute's Life Satisfaction Survey (2014-2019) and applies a generalized ordered logit model. The findings indicate that there is a positive relationship between homeownership and happiness levels in Turkey. Although the relationship weakens when controlling for environmental factors such as housing-related physical problems, housing satisfaction, neighborhood satisfaction, and health status, homeownership still has an independent effect on happiness. However, this effect is found to vary by household income level. For lower and middle-income groups, homeownership reduces the likelihood of being unhappy and increases the likelihood of being happy, but it does not have a significant effect on the likelihood of being "very happy." In higher income groups, the effect of homeownership on happiness weakens, and no significant relationship is found for the highest income group. The findings suggest that the relationship between homeownership and happiness is more pronounced in lower and middle-income individuals, where it is strengthened by factors such as financial security.
