Investigation of the Opinions of a Waldorf Kindergarden on the Different Aspects of Mission, Vision and Differentiations in Turkey

Abstract

The aim of this research which subjects the Waldorf approach is to examine why parents are choosing the Waldorf Preschool and principle, teachers and parents perspectives of mission and vision of preschool and parents perspectives of differences between Waldorf Preschool and other type of preschools. Thus this research is a qualitative study in the design of a holistic single-case. The population of the study consisted of parents and administrators and teachers in a kindergarten in Istanbul and accredited under the IASWECE. The data were encoded in the analysis and the relationships between these codes were identified. According to the findings about the why parents are choosing the Waldorf Preschool are paralleling with the findings about principle, teachers and parents perspectives of mission and vision of preschool and parents perspectives of differences between Waldorf Preschool and other type of preschools. As well as parallel findings, effect of Waldorf approach come into prominence.

Türkiye'deki Bir Waldorf Anaokulunun Misyon, Vizyon ve Diğer Anaokullarından Farklı Yönlerine İlişkin Görüşlerin İncelenmesi

Öz

Waldorf yaklaşımının ele alındığı bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de bulunan bir Waldorf anaokulundaki yönetici, öğretmen ve ebeveynlerin okulun vizyon ve misyonuna ilişkin görüşleri ile bu okulları tercih etme nedenleri ve ebeveynlerin Waldorf anaokulunun diğer anaokullarından farklı yanlarına ilişkin görüşlerini incelemektir. Bu araştırmada bütüncül tek durum deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, İstanbul’da bulunan ve IASWECE (International Association for Steiner/ Waldorf Early Childhood Education) bağlı olarak akreditasyon sürecine devam eden bir anaokulundaki yönetici, öğretmen ve ebeveynler oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri yapılan bireysel görüşmeler ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler nitel veri analiz teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre Waldorf anaokulundaki yönetici, öğretmen ve ebeveynlerin Waldorf yaklaşımının çocuğa bakış açısını benimsedikleri ve çocuğu şekillendirilecek bir varlık olarak görmenin ötesinde, bir birey olarak kabul ettikleri, bunun yanısıra anaokulunun misyon ve vizyonu hakkındaki yönetici, öğretmen ve ebeveyn görüşlerinin çocuğu temel aldığı ve kurumun da bu temel üzerine gelecek planları yaptığı söylenebilir.
