The Turkish chemical industry is one of the leading sectors in the Turkish economy with its significant contribution both to production and employment and to exports. This study examines the competitiveness of the Turkish chemical industry for the period of 2000-2020 based on the thirty-three sub-sectors (three-digit) and reveals the product mapping of the industry. In the study, the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA), the Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage index (RSCA), and the Trade Balance Index (TBI) were used, and the product mapping method developed by Tri Widodo was employed. It has been observed that five of the thirty-three sub-sectors are net exporters with comparative advantage(soaps, cleansing and polishing preparations, metallic salts and peroxysalts, tubes, pipes, and hoses of plastics, plates, sheets, film, foil and strip and monofilaments of plastics sub-sectors); three are net importers with comparative advantage(synthetic organic coloring matter and coloring lakes, pigments, paints, varnishes, and related materials and polyether, epoxide resins; polycarbonate., polyesters sub-sectors), twenty-four are net importers with comparative disadvantage. Only one sector (perfumery and cosmetics) is a net exporter with a comparative disadvantage.
