Islamic Entrepreneurship: A Bibliometric Analysis in the Context of Inclusion and Sustainability

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 12 Sayı: 2, 1 - 23, 30.09.2025

Öz

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the past two decades of scholarly production in the field of Islamic entrepreneurship, highlighting thematic concentrations, geographical and institutional distributions, as well as collaboration networks. Employing bibliometric analysis, the research covers 368 academic publications indexed in international databases between 2005 and 2025 that meet the study’s inclusion criteria. The analysis examines the distribution of publications over time, the most productive authors, institutions, and countries, the most highly cited works, conceptual evolution, keyword trends, and co-authorship structures in detail. Findings indicate a significant increase in publications on Islamic entrepreneurship, particularly after 2015, with Malaysia and Indonesia emerging as leading contributors in terms of both productivity and collaboration. Turkey’s contribution remains relatively limited, underscoring the need for greater engagement in international research networks. Citation analysis reveals that the most influential studies focus on themes such as concept building, women’s entrepreneurship, and ethical behavior. Keyword trends further demonstrate the growing prominence of digitalization, sustainable development, and Islamic finance within the literature. By systematically mapping the current state of the field, this study offers a holistic and structured overview of Islamic entrepreneurship research, while also providing thematic and methodological insights that may guide future studies. The originality of the study lies in its breadth of coverage and conceptual depth, which together make a meaningful contribution to the literature.
