Hittites approach to the natural environment and the creatures living in it is known from legal, political, religious and mythological texts. In these documents, the snake, which is expressed with the MUŠ Sumerogram, has been given very different meanings beyond being a living thing. The Hittites perceived the snake as good-evil, dark-light, immortality and healing. In Hittites, snakes have become symbolic expressions of betrayal, insidiousness, restlessness and uncannyness. In this study, the meaning of the word snake in Hittite cuneiform documents, the use of snakes in black and white magic, the reason why snakes are preferred in fortune-telling, the interpretation of snakes in dreams and the officials who deal with snakes will be examined. Also, point view of the Hittites towards the snake and its forceful influence on people will be revealed.
