Although Ibn Shibl al-Baghdadi, who lived in the Abbasid period, did not leave many works, it was observed that he was very influential on the people who dealt with his life. He wrote poetry in many fields such as wisdom, love, drink, praise, satire and elegy. Even when the emotion was intense, he did not leave his wisdom down. However, both his poetry and his wisdom could not find the value they deserved, the number of works dealing with his life could not be too many. His life, which is limited in the sources, has been examined and discussed, and his literary personality from the remaining poems of his lost diwan has been discussed and evaluated.
As a result of the examination, it was determined that he preferred the poems with the theme of wisdom more because he was educated in scientific sciences such as philosophy, medicine, astronomy, and it was determined that he had a natural, fluent and understandable style thanks to his education in hadith and literature.
