RESİM, MÜZİK VE SINIF ÖĞRETMENLİĞİ BÖLÜMÜ ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN İNGİLİZCE ÖĞRENMESİNİN İNCELENMESİ: BİR AKSİYON ARAŞTIRMASI

Öz

Araştırmanın amacı, Resim, Müzik ve Sınıf Öğretmenliği (SÖ) anabilim dallan bi¬rinci sınıflarında okuyan öğrencilere aksiyon araştırması yöntemiyle İngilizce I ve II dersle¬rini öğretmek, cinsiyet ve anabilim dalları gibi değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışma ayrıca, öğrencilerin İngilizce’ye karşı tutumlannı anabilim dalları ve cinsiyet de¬ğişkenlerine göre bulmayı hedeflemiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini, Eğitim Fakültesi, Müzik, Resim ve Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dallanndaki öğrenciler; örneklemini ise birinci sınıfta İngilizce I ve II dersini alan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın verileri, anket, gözlem, tutum ölçeği, vize ve final sınavlan aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde istatistiksel hesaplamalar; yüzde (%), frekans, t-testi ve nitel betimleme yapılmıştır. Araştırma, Resim, Müzik öğrencileri ile Sınıf Öğretmenliği öğrencileri, kız ve er¬kek öğrenciler arasında, İngilizce öğrenme başarılan açısından önemli bir fark olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, Resim, Müzik ve Sınıf Öğretmenliği öğrencilerinin tutumları arasında istatistiksel anlamlı bir fark olmamasına rağmen, kız ve erkek öğrenciler arasında anlamlı bir fark görülmüştür. Bu nedenle, yabancı dil öğretiminde Resim ve Müzik öğrencilerine pisiko-motor öğrenmeye uygun yöntem ve teknikler, Sınıf Öğretmenliği öğrencilerine ise bilişsel yöntem ve teknikler kullanılması önerilmiştir.

AN ANALYSIS OF ART, MUSIC AND PRIMARY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STUDENTS LEARNING ENGLISH: AN ACTION RESEARCH

Öz

Abstract This study has aimed to analyse students ’ successes in learning English I and II through the use of educational action research and to find out the relationships of variables like gender and class between the Fine Arts and Primary Education departments. Besides, the study has also analysed the students ı attitudes towards English according to sexes and classes. The population of the study Art, Music and Primary Education Department students in Education Faculty and the sample of the study is 170 students who take English I and II and are in year one. Data were collected by the use of observations, attitude scale, visa and final exams. The collected data were analysed as statistical calculations, per centage (%), frequency, t-test, and qualitative descriptions. The analysis has indicated that there is a significant success difference in learning English between the Art, Music and Primary Education students, and between boys and girls. Although there is no significant difference towards English among the three departments, there is significant attitude difference between boys and girls. Hence psycho-motor methods and techniques are suggested for the Art and Music students and cognitive methods and techniques are suggested for the primary education departmen students.
