MATERNAL MORTALITY as a DEVELOPMENT INDICATOR

Yıl 2018, Cilt: 3 Sayı: 3, 63 - 70, 04.10.2018

In developing countries, pregnancy and related complications are among the major causes of morbidity and mortality in women aged 15-49 years. Considering that approximately 210 million women are pregnant each year, it is understood that maternal health is a matter to be considered. Progress has been made in reducing maternal mortality worldwide, but this is irregular at both global and national levels. Comparisons between the burden of maternal deaths in developed and developing countries are considered "the greatest disagreement of all public health statistics". Maternal health is the key to sustainable development and future generations.
