Aim:The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare patients with congenital maxillary lateral incisor teeth deficiency with normal patients in terms of lower and upper incisor teeth positions and facial soft tissue thickness.

Material&Method: This retrospective study consisted of lateral cephalometric and panoramic radiographs of 108 subjects (29 males, mean age 15.85 ± 2.32 years; mean age: 15.42 ± 3.15 years) without orthodontic treatment. The determination of hard and soft tissue points and measurements were performed using the radiographic image analysis program on the computer. Individuals were divided into 4 groups (skeletal class I, II and III individuals with maxillary lateral incisor deficiency and skeletal class I normal group with no deficiency) with 26 patients in each group according to the ANB angle. Fourteen linear and twelve angular measurements were used to assess the hard tissue and soft tissue profile. The independent samples t test, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman correlation coeffient were used for the statistical analysis of the obtained data.

Results: When the intergroup evaluation was performed, there was a significant difference between the thickness of the upper lip and the thickness of chin between the groups with congenital maxillary lateral incisor deficiency group and the normal group (p <0.05). It was determined that the vertical dimensions of the face were smaller in the individuals with maxillary lateral incisor deficiency.

Conclusion: The deficiency of maxillary lateral incisor affects the soft tissue thicknesses by influenced the incisor positions and the vertical dimensions of the patient.

Amaç: Diş eksikliği olmayan normal hastalar ile konjenital diş eksikliğine sahip hastaları alt ve üst çene kesici diş konumları ve yüz yumuşak doku kalınlıkları açısından değerlendirmek ve karşılaştırmaktır.

Materyal & Metot:Bu retrospektif çalışma, ortodontik tedavi görmemiş 108 bireyin (29 erkek, yaş ortalaması 15,85±2,32 yıl; 75 kız, yaş ortalaması 15,42±3,15 yıl) lateral sefalometrik ve panoramik radyografilerinden oluşturuldu. Sert ve yumuşak doku noktalarının belirlenmesi ve ölçümler bilgisayar üzerinde radyografik görüntü analiz programı kullanılarak yapıldı.  Bireyler, ANB açısının değerine göre her grupta 26 hasta olacak şekilde 4 gruba (maksiller lateral kesici diş eksikliği olan iskeletsel sınıf I, II ve III bireyler ve diş eksikliği olmayan iskeletsel sınıf I normal hasta grubu) ayrılmıştır. On dört doğrusal ve on iki açısal ölçüm, sert doku ve yumuşak doku profilinin değerlendirilmesinde kullanıldı.
