Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy ve Sığırların Diğer Spongiform Encephalopathy'leri

Öz

Spongifom terimi patoloji literatüründe esası intramyelinik ödem olan beyaz madde mikrokavitasyonunu ifade etmek için kullanılır. Bir çok kimyasal, toksik, metabolik ve kalıtsal bozuklukların nöyropatolojik temel bir özelliğidir(28). . Bovine spongifom encephalopathy ise ilk defa 1986 yılında Ingiltere'de farklı coğrafik yerleşimlerdeki süt ineklerinde bildirilmiştir.Hastalık ergin sığırların yavaş, progresif seyirli nöyrolojik bir hastalığıdır.Histolojik bakıda beyin sterninin gri maddesinde bilateral, simetrik dejeneratif değişiklikler ve özellikle gri madde nöyropilinde vakuolasyon dikkati çeker (30). BSE terimi bir yandan morfolojik olarak nöyron ve nöyropildeki vakuolar değişiklikleri açıklar diğer yandan da bu değişikliklerin bilinmeyen enfeksiyöz ajanlar tarafından oluşturulan diğer spongifom1 ensefalopatilere olan yakın benzerliğini vurgular. Spongifom ensefalopatilerden sorumlu tutulan bilinmeyen aktarılabilir ajanlar birçok biyolojik fiziksel ve kimyasal özelliklere sahiptir. Bu ajanlar formaldehide, B-propiolaktona, EDTA ( etilen-diamin-tetra asetat)'ya,proteazlara (tripsin, pepsin), nukleazlara (ribonukleazlar A ve III, deoksiribonukleaz I), ısıya (8°C'ye kadar; 10° C'da tam olmayarak inaktive olurlar),ultraviyole ışınlarına (2540 A'de), iyonize ışınlara(röntgen ışınları)ve ultrasonik enerjiye dirençlidirler.Elektron mikroskopide tanımlanabilir viryonlar olarak görülemezler.Enfekte doku kültürlerinde in vitro sitopatik etki gösterilmemiştir .Ajanlara karşı interferon yapılmaz ve interferona duyarlılıkları yoktur. Ajanlann virusların interferon yapımını engellediği de saptanmamıştır.
