Hayvancılıkta reprodüksiyon sorunları işletmelerin mücadele edeceği önemli sorunlardan birisi olarak kabul edilir ve erken teşhisi edilmesi önem taşır. Teratojen ajanlar ise, gebelik döneminde gelişimsel bozukluklara neden olarak reprodüktif sorunlar oluşturan önemli etkenlerdendir. Enfeksiyöz teratojen ajanlar içerisinde sınıflandırılan viral etkenler de reprodüktif sorunların önemli nedenlerinden birisi olarak kabul edilir. Teratojen virusların birçoğu gebelik döneminde asemptomatik seyreder ve latentlik periyodu nedeniyle teşhisi zordur. Bu durum virusların saçılmasını kolaylaştırdığından sürü sağlığını tehdit etmektedir. Bu derleme ile önemli viral teratojenler hakkında yapılmış çalışmaların verileri toparlanıp özetlenerek bu konudaki bilgilerin güncellenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
