bilimsel inceleme ve spesifik çalışma anlamına gelen kelimelerden türetilmiştir.
Yani Oncology; tümörleri inceleyen bir bilim dalıdır. Ve tümarlerin etiyolojileri,
morfolojileri, klasifikasyonları ile ilgilenir (1 ).
Tümör, aşırı ve durmayan bir hücra proliferasyonu ile karakterize
olan patolojik bir gelişme bozukluğudur (2). Tümör kelimesi anormal doku
kümelenmeleri veya tümör kabiliyeti olan anormal hücre populasyonları olarak tanımlanabilir (1 ).
