Türkiye'de mevcut sığırların çoğunluğu,
genetik yapı İtibarıyle, düşük verimli yerli ırklardan
meydana gelmiştir. Bu nedenle, tarımsal
potansiyeli yüksek bölgelerde bulunan yerli
ırk sığırların yerine batıdan kültür ırkı sığırlar
ithal edilerek, yıllardır sığırcılığın ıslahına çalışılmıştır.
Ancak, Türkiye'de sığır yetiştiriciliğini
olumsuz yönde etkileyen, genetik yapı
dışında diğer bazı faktörler de mevcuttur. Bu
faktörler arasında viral, bakteriyel ve paraziter
hastalıklar önemli yer tutarlar.
Etlik Veteriner Mikrobiyoloji Dergisi Sığır Tropikal Theileriosis epidemiyoloji 2005
This study was carried out in an endemic region of Central Anatolia to research the ep epidemiology
of tropical the theileriosis after vaccination from March 1996 to April 1999. The study was conducted
in Kesikköprü, Köseli, Kerişli villages and TIGEM farm of Bala county, and Kabak, Güreş,
Girmeç, Hıdırşeyh villages and TIGEM fann of Polatlı county where the presence of Theileria annulata
was detected by blood smear inspections. In these villages, 50 % of cattles was native, 30 %
cross-breed and 20 % pure Holstein.
The studies have showed that the prevalence of T.annulata was 39.8 % befare the vaccination.
Cattle were vaccinated by T. annulata live macro-schizont vaccine that contained 107 cells per
ml (produced in Pendik Veterinary Research Institute). lnspections done 45 days later fallawing to
the vaccination showed that 58.5% of cattle became seropositive against T. amııtlata antigen. The
seropositivity percentage in unvaccinated control group cattle became 30.1% during one active
season of the disease. In the same period, 48.5 % of vaccinated and 29.4 % of control group animals
became the port or of T. annulata.
The vaccine was found to be partially effective on tropical theileriosis since the ineidence of
the disease was detected to be 1.9% in the vaccinated animals and 10.5 %in the unvaccinated control
group animals. It was also confırmed with this study that theileriosis is endemic disease in certain
regions of Ankara province.
The sporoblasts of T.annulata were found in the saliva glands of Hyalomma anatolicum anatolcum
and Hyalomma anatolicum excavatum. lt was concluded that tlıese ticks are the potantial
vecfor of tropical the theileriosis in Turkey.
