This article aims to examine the notion of toxic school culture, introduced as a new topic in the typology of organizational culture. Document analysis method, a qualitative research method, is used in the systematic dissection of written documents as a data source in the study. Therefore, the document analysis technique, a qualitative data analysis technique, is used to examine the literature related to concepts being the main point of the study. Culture and organizational culture concepts are emphasized in the first chapter of this study; additionally, the studies made in the context of school culture are analyzed. The notions of toxicity and toxic culture are explained, also the concept of toxic leadership and features of different types of toxic leadership creating toxic culture is highlighted in the initial part of the second chapter in the article. Subsequently, the toxic school culture being a sub-topic of school culture is defined and common features of behavior patterns are listed by explaining the reasons for the existence of toxic school cultures and their characteristics. The article is finalized by presenting employee types working in a toxic organization and setting forth suggestions for how a healthy vocational climate is to be created.

Bu araştrımanın amacı, örgüt kültürü tipolojisinde yeni bir başlık olarak ortaya konan toksik okul kültürü kavramının incelenmesidir. Çalışmada, yazılı belgelerin veri kaynağı olarak sistematik incelenmesinde nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden “doküman analizi” yöntemi benimsenmiştir. Araştırmada, makalenin konusu olan kavramlara yönelik literatürün incelenmesi amacıyla bir nitel veri analiz yöntemi olan doküman analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Makalenin ilk kısmında kültür ve örgütsel kültür kavramları üzerinde durulmuş, ayrıca okul kültürü bağlamında yapılan çalışmalar incelenmiştir. Makalenin ikinci kısmında başlangıcında, toksikite ve toksik kültür kavramı açıklanmış, toksik kültürü oluşturan toksik liderlik ve toksik liderlik türlerinin özellikleri belirtilmiştir. Ardından, okul kültürü kavramının bir alt basamağı olan toksik okul kültürü tanımlanmış ve toksik okul kültürünün doğuş sebepleri ve özellikleri açıklanarak, toksik okullardaki davranış örüntülerinin ortak yönleri listelenmiştir. Makale, toksik örgütlerdeki çalışan tiplemeleri ve toksik örgütlerde sağlıklı çalışma ikliminin yaratılması için ortaya konulan çözüm önerilerinin sunulması ile sonlandırılmıştır.
