Lise Öğrencilerinin Kariyer Kaygılarının ve Biyoloji ile İlgili Mesleklere Yaklaşımlarının İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı; lise öğrencilerinin kariyer kaygılarını ve biyoloji ile ilgili mesleklere dair yaklaşımlarını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Türkiye’nin batısında bulunan bir lisede 9., 10., 11. ve 12. sınıf düzeylerinde öğrenim görmekte olan 207 kadın ve 196 erkek olmak üzere toplam 403 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada karma yöntemden yararlanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları, “Kariyer Kaygısı Ölçeği”, “Biyolojiyle İlgili Mesleklere Yönelik Yaklaşım Formu” ve “Biyolojiyle İlişkili Meslekler Formu”dur. Veri analizinde hem nicel hem de nitel yaklaşımlar kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre kariyer kaygısı toplam puanlarında cinsiyet ve sınıf düzeylerinde anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin biyoloji ile ilişkili mesleklere yaklaşımları incelendiğinde tıp alanının hem seçmek istenilen hem de seçmek istenilmeyen mesleklerin başında yer aldığı dikkat çekerken biyoloji öğretmenliğinin ise öğrencilerin meslek tercihlerinde son sıralarda bulunduğu görülmektedir. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçların yapılacak daha geniş çaplı ve karşılaştırmalı araştırmalara dayanak sağlaması beklenmektedir.

An Examination of High School Students' Career Anxiety and Their Approaches toward Biology-Related Professions

Öz

The aim of this study is to explore high school students’ career anxieties and their attitudes toward biology-related professions. The study group consists of 403 students (207 female, 196 male) from grades 9 through 12 at a high school in west of Türkiye. A mixed-methods approach was employed. Data were collected using the “Career Anxiety Scale,” the “Attitude Toward Biology-Related Careers Form,” and the “Biology-Related Professions Form.” Both quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods were applied. Results indicate significant differences in career anxiety scores based on gender and grade level. While medicine was frequently mentioned both as a desired and undesired profession, biology teaching ranked among the least preferred careers. The findings are expected to contribute to future large-scale and comparative studies in the field of biology education and career guidance.
