KANT’IN TEORİK AKIL-PRATİK AKIL AYRIMINA ELEŞTİREL BİR YAKLAŞIM

Öz

Kant’ın düşünce sistemi hissetme ile düşünme yetileri arasında yaptığı ayrım üzerinde yükselir. Bu ayrım Kant tarafından temellendirilmemiştir; sistemin bütünü bakımından bir hipotez niteliğindedir. Kant’a göre, hissetmeyi belirleyen kabul edici olması, düşünmeyi belirleyen ise kendiliğindenliğidir. İnsanın bilgisi hissetme ile bir düşünme yetisi olarak müdrikenin iş birliğine bağlı olduğundan, aklın teorik faaliyeti mümkün tecrübe ile sınırlıdır. Müdrikenin kategorilerinin tecrübe dışına yönelik kullanımı aklın spekülatif kullanımının yolunu açar. Bu kullanım teorik bakımdan aldatıcıdır. Aklın pratik faaliyeti ise ancak aklın iradeyi, yöneleceği ampirik olmak zorundaki içeriklerden bağımsız olarak, tek başına belirlemesiyle mümkündür. Kant aklın iradeyi tek başına belirlemesinin imkanını, başka hiçbir yerden türetilemediğinden, pratik yasanın akıl için bir olgu olmasında, aklın yasanın dolaysızca bilincinde olmasına yerleştirir. Fakat bu sonuç, kabul edici yetinin sadece hissetme olduğu ön sayımıyla, dolayısıyla hissetme ile düşünme arasındaki ayrımla çelişir. O halde aklın teorik ve pratik faaliyetleri arasındaki ayrım hissetme-düşünmeden ayrımından tutarlı bir şekilde türetilemez; aksine teorik-pratik ayrımının tesis edilememesi, hissetme-düşünme ayrımının da sorgulanması zorunlu kılar.

A Critical Approach to Kant’s Distinction Between Theoretical Reason and Practical Reason

Öz

Kant’s system of thought depends upon the distinction he made between sensibility and thinking. Kant does not attempt to ground this distinction; its function in view of his whole system is nothing other than being a hypothesis. According to Kant, that which characterizes sensibility is its receptivity and that which determines thinking is its spontaneity. Since human cognition depends upon the collaboration of sensibility and understanding as a thinking faculty, it is limited to the possible experience. The use of categories of understanding beyond experience paves way to the speculative use of reason, which is illusory in view of the theoretical activity. However, the practical activity of reason is possible only on the condition that the reason determines the will by itself, independently of the content that can be only empirical. According to Kant, the determination of the will through the reason alone is possible only if the practical law is accepted as a fact of reason; i.e., if the reason is immediately conscious of it, because there is no other way for establishing the practical law. However, this conclusion contradicts to the presupposition that sensibility is the sole receptive faculty. Then, it also contradicts to the supposed distinction between sensibility and thinking. Thus, the distinction between the theoretical and the practical activities of reason cannot be deduced from the sensibility-thinking distinction; on the contrary, the unsuccessful attempt to derive the former from the latter necessitates questioning the hypothetical sensibility-thinking distinction.
