Influence of different irrigation solutions on bond strength of MTA Fillapex root canal sealer

Öz

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of different irrigation solutions on bond strength of MTA Fillapex root canal sealer by using the push-out test.

MATERIALS AND METHOD: Forty extracted human permanent upper canine teeth were used. The teeth randomly divided into four groups (n=10) according to final irrigation. Group 1; 5 ml 1.3% NaOCl, Group 2; 5 ml 17% EDTA, Group 3; 5 ml 17% EDTA+5 ml 2% CHX and Group 4; 5 ml MTAD. Root canals were filled by using MTA Fillapex root canal sealer and gutta percha by means of the cold lateral condensation technique. After setting of the root canal sealer, twomillimeter thick slices were obtained from the specimens and the push-out test was performed. All data were submitted to one way ANOVA and post-hoc Tukey tests.

RESULTS: The group with MTAD had significantly lower bond strength than all of the other groups (p<0.05). No statistically significant difference was found between the other groups (p>0.05).

CONCLUSION: The bond strength of MTA Fillapex was adversely influenced by MTAD. Therefore, when using MTA Fillapex as a root canal sealer, MTAD should not be preferred for irrigation of root canals.

Farklı irrigasyon solüsyonlarının MTA Fillapex kanal patının bağlanma dayanımı üzerine etkisi

Öz

AMAÇ: Bu in vitro çalışmanın amacı, farklı irrigasyon solüsyonlarının MTA Fillapex kanal patının bağlanma dayanımına etkisini push-out testi ile değerlendirmektir.

GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Bu çalışmada 40 adet çekilmiş insan daimi üst kanin dişi kullanıldı. Dişler uygulanacak son irrigasyona göre rastlantısal olarak dört gruba ayrıldı (n=10). Grup 1: 5 ml %1.3 NaOCl, Grup 2: 5 ml %17 EDTA, Grup 3: 5 ml %17 EDTA+5 ml %2’lik CHX ve Grup 4: 5 ml MTAD. Kök kanalları MTA Fillapex kanal patı ve güta-perka ile lateral kondensasyon yöntemi kullanılarak dolduruldu. Kanal patının sertleşmesi beklendikten sonra örneklerden2 mmkalınlığında kesitler elde edildi ve push-out testi uygulandı. Elde edilen verilerin istatiksel analizi tek yönlü varyans analizi ANOVA ve Tukey post-hoc testleri ile gerçekleştirildi.

BULGULAR: MTAD solüsyonunun kullanıldığı grupta bağlanma dayanımının, test edilen diğer gruplara göre anlamlı şekilde düşük olduğu gözlendi (p<0.05). Diğer gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark gözlenmedi (p>0.05).

SONUÇ: Bu çalışmanın koşulları altında MTAD solüsyonun kullanımının MTA Fillapex kanal patının bağlanma dayanımını olumsuz etkilediği saptanmıştır. Bundan dolayı kök kanal patı olarak MTA Fillapex kullanılacağı zaman, kök kanalının irrigasyonu için MTAD kullanılması tavsiye edilmemelidir.
